NEW YORK, NY, September 25, 2007 – The American Association of Young People’s founder will be in New York City this week attending the annual meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative. Matt Murray, the founder and CEO of the American Association of Young People also serves as Editor-in-Chief of Swarm Magazine, the free publication released by the organization.
In addition to founding the American Association of Young People and serving as editor-in-chief of Swarm, Murray has also started two environmentally conscious companies – Satchbags.org and Scraparondacks.org – that pull thousands of square feet of wood and vinyl billboards from landfills to make Adirondack chairs and beach/market/messenger bags.
He is currently working on two books aimed toward the young American demographic – Pigs Get Fat, Hogs Get Eaten: What I Wish I Knew in my Twenties and Anatomy of a Nation: Youth, Money, Culture. Boston University economist Laurence Kotlikoff and nationally syndicated financial columnist Scott Burns are just two well-known authors who have agreed to collaborate with Murray on his work.
“The idea behind my work is to make services that a lot of people take for granted such as healthcare accessible to the millions of American youths who don’t have it,” Murray said.
A social capitalist, Murray is most interested in the subjects of generational accounting, how socially responsible businesses get ahead, green design, youth culture and economics, and the effects of globalization on America.
He will have availability during the week for interviews and appearances.
